The Yoddha Race lands in **Hyderabad on 5 December 2026**, and if you want more than a participation photo — if you want the **Yoddha Medal**, earned by finishing inside 90 minutes — you need to train for the race you'll actually run, not the gym routine you already do.

As an Official Training Partner of [The Yoddha Race](https://theyoddharace.com/), we built our [Yoddha training program](https://fisique.fitness/yoddha-race-training) around one idea: race day should feel familiar. Here is the 8-week framework we coach it with.

## What the race actually demands

Obstacle fitness races punish single-dimension athletes. A strong lifter gasses out on the runs. A pure runner gets stopped by carries, crawls, and grip work. The race is chip-timed, so there is nowhere to hide — your finish time reflects every weak link. Training has to cover four things at once:

- **Strength under fatigue** — carrying, dragging, and lifting when your heart rate is already high
- **Engine** — the aerobic base that lets you recover between efforts
- **Grip and core** — the first things to fail in any obstacle event
- **Pacing judgment** — knowing what 90 minutes of sustained output feels like

## The 8-week structure

### Weeks 1–2: Base

Three full-body strength sessions and two easy engine sessions per week. The strength work stays simple — squats, deadlifts, presses, rows, loaded carries — at weights you can move with clean form. Engine days are 30–40 minutes of steady-state work where you can still hold a conversation. If you are starting from low fitness, this phase matters more than any other: it is what every later week is built on.

### Weeks 3–4: Build

Strength sessions add intensity and start pairing movements into circuits: a carry into a row, a squat into a sled push. Engine sessions add intervals — efforts of 2–4 minutes at a pace you could not chat through, with equal rest. This is where grip work becomes deliberate: dead hangs, farmer's holds, towel rows.

### Weeks 5–6: Simulate

This is the phase most home programs can't replicate, and the reason we run **weekly race simulations** at the studio: timed circuits that chain running, carries, crawls, and strength stations with race-like transitions. The goal is not to destroy you — it is to teach pacing. Most first-timers go out far too hard in the first ten minutes and pay for it for the next eighty.

### Week 7: Sharpen

Volume drops slightly, intensity stays. One full-length simulation at target race pace. Sleep and nutrition get strict — this is the week your body consolidates everything you've built.

### Week 8: Taper

Cut volume roughly in half. Keep two short, crisp sessions with race-pace touches, nothing exhausting. You cannot gain fitness in the final week, but you can absolutely lose freshness. Arrive at the start line slightly underworked and fully recovered.

## The weekly template

- **3 × strength/Yoddha class** — coached, race-specific movements
- **2 × engine** — one steady, one intervals
- **1 × simulation** (from week 5) — timed, race-format circuit
- **1 × full rest** — non-negotiable; sauna helps here

## Recovery is training

Six training days a week only works if recovery keeps pace. That is why [our Yoddha program](https://fisique.fitness/yoddha-race-training) includes sauna access — post-session heat exposure for muscle repair — alongside the classes. Recover. Rebuild. Recharge.

## Start where you are

Eight weeks is the framework, but the program scales in both directions. Joined early? We periodize the base phase longer. Four weeks out? We compress, prioritise simulations, and get you to the line as prepared as the calendar allows.
